Random Mic Input Distortion

Hello, this is my first post on here so hopefully I can get my problem resolved quickly! First of all I just upgraded to PT 11, BUT I also had this problem in ProTools 10. What is happening is I am in a recording session, and everything will be going fine. Then out of nowhere, the mic input will turn into a big distorted digital mess. To resolve the problem I just restart ProTools but then it happens again 5 minutes later. It is incredible frustrating. Also, it only happens in PT. I dont think it is my interface since I was running everything fine when I was on Cubase 5. My audio interface drivers are all up to date. I pray there is a simple solution to this. Please Help! I can offer you some troubleshooting steps...

Uninstall your interface drivers and reinstall them fresh and the latest update from the companies website....

If that does not clear it up... try increasing the engine buffer size

If all else fails try reinstalling Pro Tools
