It should be in your Applications folder once finished.

I may have missed it in this thread, but a major undocumented (as far as I can tell) feature is that Apple Silicon users will now see PT use all the efficiency cores.

Until now my humble basic M2 only showed 4 processors, 2024.3 shows all 8.

Do we need to make the bootable installer? The downloaded installer seems like it might work, clicked through the agree section and unsure if i should proceed.

as long as you have a current bootable clone backup should disaster strike, then you could try installing it directly ... let us all know the result ;-)
I am still using Monterey, and plan to continue until something really necessary comes along in the macOS. This latest Pro Tools seems to be working fine in Monterey.
I personally prefer a completely clean OS install with a major macOS revision, but that's just me. Plenty of people install a new macOS over the top of their existing install.

For anyone who installs this slightly older macOS Sonoma version, if you want to kill System Prefs red-flag reminders of the newer updates, type the following Terminal command each time that red flag rears its ugly head:
defaults write com.apple.systempreferences AttentionPrefBundleIDs 0 && killall Dock

It was mentioned briefly. I haven't looked at my cpu meters but I do feel some extra quickness today.

And something like a chord generator and articulation map to replace key switches would take it totally over the top.
Word. Better MIDI organization like this would be great. Things like being able to have different colors for different drum instrument midi notes, like snares in red and bass drums in blue.

No, it is an Apple silicon optimization and is not limited to Sonoma.
