Default Can I record in stereo using the Powerbook G4 mini-jack external audio input?

I use PT Free on a Powerbook G4 and import recorded audio into it through an external mixer. I connect the mixer to to the Powerbook external audio minijack input using an RCA-to-minijack adaptor. Can I record in PT Free in stereo using this configuration, or do i have to have a USB audio interface (Edirol 1-A, for example) with Left and Right RCA inputs in order to record simultaneously L and R stereo tracks in PT FREE?

Thanks in advance for the help!

One more related inquiry: with my current setup I can see a level signal in PT FREE only when the Left Input is selected in the track mixer channel. If I try to select the Right Input there is no signal. Is this normal, or do I have a problem with my mixer?

It's more than likely a problem with your adaptor. Most of the adaptors I've seen are pretty fat and sometimes won't fit completely into the jack. Try swapping R&L (on the adapter) and see if it changes. Better to use a RCA to 1/8" TRS cable and lose the adaptor.

You might want to double-check your software routing setups just to be sure before you spring for another cable though.
