Processor Upgrade Advice
Hi All,
Currently have a 2009, 2.93GHz Quad-Core 'Nehalem' Mac Pro, 32GB RAM. I'm not terribly thrilled with the RTAS performance of the machine. Although I have a Accel HD 6, I'm finding myself using more and more RTAS plugs, a lot of which are pretty power hungry. My question is, do you think I'd gain RTAS processing performance doing a processor upgrade to a Two x 2.26GHz Quad-Core 'Nehalem' for $850 (Other World Computing's Turn Key upgrade). Any advice would be great. Best, JSR |

Re: Processor Upgrade Advice
I would wait for Thursday night's announcement and see if new options present themselves.

Re: Processor Upgrade Advice
You can do the "Netkas " mac Pro firmware update , making your 2009 Mac Pro to a 2010 Mac Pro. Then it will support hexacore CPU´s.
I updated from a quad 3.33 to a Hexa 3.46 GHz Intel W3690. Both the single w3680 and W3690 are faster than dual 2.26 quads.
