Default Idea for new product: Wireless iLok

Here is a great idea for a new product. I've giving this idea away for free but if you make a million dollars on it, just give me credit.

How about a wireless iLok? It could be WiFi or bluetooth.

You can keep it locked away in a drawer in the studio to avoid theft all the while it is still authorizing your software (Better than a USB stick sticking out of the USB port of your Windows or MacPro tower or iMac.

You can keep it on your keychain or in your laptop bag for when you are traveling with your laptop.

You avoid risk of damage from having it sticking out the side or back of your notebook.

I'm not saying it will be easy but it sounds like a good solution to an obvious problem.

If they are going to charge $159 as is being posted around for the new iLok, (robbery in my opinion), They would likely want $300 or so for wireless.. and the tech guys would be up to their eyeballs in noob configuration problems every day...

Not to rain on anyones parade.. but iLok service has never been known to be all that user-friendly..

Mabye something with biometrics?? My lappy has a fingerprint scanner on it for security and surely something could be worked out like that.. They could call it iFinger..

This is a fantastic idea!! I hope they are listening! I'd also be willing to pay to have some sort of remote login. So if I go to another studio I could access my ilok from my studio. That could eliminate the need to take it with you (loss/theft) and generate revenue for pace.

I can see it now...... the Faraday cap brigade will be claiming that wireless iLoks cause brain cancer, erectile dysfunction, birth defects and gental warts

The paranoid will be saying "Look honey theres another black sedan from Bomb Factory parked at the curb"

Just because its wireless doesn't mean they are not watching you

So... how does the thing stay powered while locked away in a drawer?

How do you prevent someone from hacking into yet another wireless signal floating around? In fact... making it wireless would make it easier to hack, since it would have to be visible on a network of some sort.

Now we're introducing new drivers to the party, too. Yet another thing to go wrong with your system. Plus... does the iLok not communicate with your computer on a sub-OS level? I wouldn't want anyone or anything to be able to wirelessly communicate with my computer in that way... especially not one that I use to make my living.

It's a decent idea... but would probably cause more problems than it would solve.

What they should do is a tiny ilok like the size of some of the newer bluetooth dongles
