Greetings.

Don't overlook the fact that plasmas are no good (too much delay) if you do any work syncing to picture.

Best regards,

Haigbabe

Really, things are sort of weird around here...trying to relocate...maybe the change of scenery will be nice. Hope things are looking up over in your neck of the woods...gimme a ring sometime.

Cheers,

I can't work on CRT monitors anymore... period. They give me a headache looking at them for too long. I have 5 LCD screens in my house, not including the 17" screen on my laptop, and 1 42" Panasonic HDTV plasma.

I would not use the plasma for audio work, it's way too heavy and up that close it's ginormous.

Look for new technologies like LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) to replace plasma very shortly. I have the plasma in the lounge of the studio for oooh ahhh factor, there is an xbox and ps-2 hooked to it to keep stoned musicians happy while they rent studio space for 50/hr.

For audio work I would definately stick with LCD, light weight, and very easy on the eyes. Look for LCD screens with a high contrast ratio 400:1 and better, and a fast response time, 15ms rise 10ms fall or sometimes written as 25ms response time. This will give you a pefrectly clear picture with no ghosting or artifacts and you can leave LCD screens on all the time as they don't have any burn-in issues.

Prices for LCD screens are really affordable now. When I bought my 19" Planar over a year ago it was $1000, today that same size/quality monitor is about half that.

And for what it's worth, I really like Samsung they are very rapidly becoming a high end audio/video company that produces beautiful and well made products.

Once you go flat, you'll never go back
