Default sync issues 002 and behringer ADA8000 in core audio

I've got an 002 on a Mac Pro running 10.4
I've got the Behringer DA for 8 extra outputs connected with an optical cable.
The DA is set to 44.1 slave.
I'm using Ableton Live, so i'm using the CoreAudio Driver.
When I start CoreAudio, it defaults to Optical = S/PDIF, RCA = OFF, and Clock Source Optical (S/PDIF)
I change the input to RCA = S/PDIF, Optical = ADAT, and set the Clock Source to Internal.
Then I start Live, and all is good.
But these settings are never saved. I have to change them everytime?
Does anyone know why? Do I need another optical cable going the other way?
Are these hardware setting different than those when running ProTools?

Thanks in advance,

M Schloss

For anyone who might be interested, I found a strange fix to my problem.
When I changed the buffer size, it rearranged outputs 9-18.
Before, the s/pdif outs were 9-10, and the optical (ADAT) were 11-18.
So it looked for sync on s/pdif, which I had to change everytime.
After the buffer size adjustment, the optical ADAT outs moved to 9-16, and s/pdif to 17-18.
This happened automatically, and now the correct digital outs and sync stay selected.
Hopefully I described this alright, and it will help you guys fix the bug.
