Default monitors for under 1,000

Just wanted to get some suggestions for monitors under 1,000 USD. I have been using the bx5a's, but i am sick of mixing a song down to put it on cd and find out i put eq etc on completely wrong. I just want to hear what the mix will sound like. Thanks.

Have you thought about tuning your room instead? It would be a shame to waste money on a new monitoring system only to find out that it was your room that was causing the problems in the first place.

Good advice above. $10,000 monitors in a bad room will suck every time. Having said that, some decent monitors are: Event ASP6, KRK V8 and V6, DynAudio. The area around $1000 to $1400 is crowded with choices and most any will do a good job IF the room is treated properly.
