You have to wait 45 days after though.
A support agent responded to me today that Avid doesn't sell hardware support contracts. What gives?

As Eddie stated, it needs to be purchased through a dealer, not Avid directly.

Geeze. You'd think AVID support would let me know as much.

Hmmm... I don't see it at Sweetwater. Who, then?

Sweetwater can sell it to you. If they say not please let me know as I can talk directly to our Avid Sweetwater rep.

Great, thanks. I've got an email out to my rep.

I'd like to try simple maintenance if I can avoid sending my S1 in. But want to be sure I do this right. I've read Deoxit can harm some plastics. I've read that CRC doesn't lubricate.

Is there any Avid-sanctioned direction on how to clean S1 faders? That would be great.

In my case one fader has a couple of less-than-smooth points in its slide action. Not horrible. But enough to be irritating.

Thanks.

Use compressed air first. If that doesn't work you can try deoxit sparingly. It has helped others in the pasts but as you say try not to get it on the surface. You can always test on the bottom of the S1.

Cool, thanks. I guess I was thinking of plastic as an internal, working part of the fader, but it sounds like you're saying that should not be an issue?

BTW -- are these (S1) faders individually replaceable? I may be out of warranty, and I'm entertaining a DIY fix if necessary.

They are soldering in, so no that easy to replace. The thinking is if the fader doesn't work, then you cant make i worse. There have been a few posts on here with success with Deoxit and no side effects. Amazon link

Compressed air and Deoxit have had no impact. Sweetwater says they can sell me a hardware support contract, so I may go that route. Unless I decide I'm just being too fussy.

Thanks Eddie and Its2 for your help.
