Default access violation error message

What causes this error message to pop up after closing an exiting a session?

It means, your application or driver has crashed.

More specifically the app or driver has asked Windows to do something the application is not allowed to do (typically access memory or an interrupt not assigned to it).

Most likely driver issue; or you're running other software/hardware which is stepping on Pro Tools toes.

Are you running the Windows Optimizations?

Mike.

thanx Mike

I presume that reinstalling Pro Tools could help but I left original CD far away from the place I am now, it would take 10 hours by bus to go there to pick it up

Try the Win Optimizations in the sticky first mate; and Black Viper if you like. Since Pro Tools is running fine normally, reinstall may not help you - more likely something on your system tripping up Pro Tools as it is releasing resources to Windows.
Mike.
