MPC 2000 is triggered by pro tools 7.4.2 but wont record!

I have my cable midi out from digi 002 rack to midi in mpc 2000
I have mpc 2000 set to midi clock in (1)
I have added mpc as new device and connected it to the digi 002 in port 1
I have enabled the midi beat clock and the mpc 2000 and the digi 002 port 2 because it doesnt show me port 1.
when i hit play it triggers the mpc but when i try to record it doesnt recieve a signal although the mpc is playing. can someone help me get this to record?

Which device doesn't record?
Are you trying to record Audio or MIDI?

I'll say right away that if you only have a single MIDI cable going from PT-out>MPC-IN, then you don't have the right connections to record either..

I have 2 midi cables 1 out from mpc into digi 002 and the other out from digi 002 into mpc, i am trying to record audio into pro tools so i can track out each sound i used on the mpc to add effects. So to answer your question Audio! Any help will be appreciated thanks.

OK.. to record the audio, you need audio cables going from MPC to ProTools interface.. Audio does not pass through MIDI cables... You say the MPC is being triggered so I am assuming it is actually making audio. You could check with headphones..

So if you have audio cables going from MPC to ProTools, then you need an audio track, inputs set to the same physical inputs you plugged the cables into, record enable and hit record.. That should be it..

I have 8 audio cables going out from the mpc into the digi 002, I dont know whats wrong, this has never happend before!

Sorry if I'm coming off like you don't know this basic stuff, but you aren't putting a whole lot of description into your posts and this is basically guesswork otherwise...

What kind of tracks in protools, etc... You said "this has never happened before!" ... Does that mean you used to have this rig working correctly?

I've tried, but I don't know much about the MPC.. It sounds like you know what's up with that stuff
