Mac pro desk top amd mbox2

Hi there,
I have a new Mac por desk top 10.6.4- 2.66ghz-quad core intel and 3 gb 1066mhz Protools le 8.0.4 and everytime I open a session in protools and do automation with standed plugin's in real time the sound cuts off and I have to close protools and start up again. I am new to the desk top and was using a laptop mac book 10.5 before and had no problems even with big sessions. I cant figure this out could you please help
