Default Roland UA-30

I just bought the Roland UA-30 and, of course, I read in these discussion groups today that this interface does not work with PTFree. Is this true?

I have the new Special Edition iMac (G3) and I have plenty or RAM (350-some). It should have no power problems. But, when I start recording the dialogue box tells me I'm running out of CPU power? Does anyone know why?

I've also read that people record on the PEAK software and transfer it to PT. Is that simple or a pain?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.[*]null

I am running the UA-30 on an iBook/500, capturing live audio via Peak LE.

Since I run PTLE on my G4/500 at home, I am interested in keeping all audio in the PT family.

I'll post reults when I can.

the ua-30 won't record into PTf, but here's how to make it record into Peak:

unplug usb cord
quit all audio apps
set usb to "digital"
plug in usb
change ua-30 to "line + gm"
set input with contol panel > sound
run peak
record & transfer to PTf

i've tried this and it does work. i wish i could record right into protools, but peak's vst plugins are great (i don't have PTLE or TDM, so no PT effects).

Huh? PT Free has a fairly complete set of effects plug-ins already, and with D-Verb at $49.95, I think the whole she-bang is pretty good.

I bet you do. What you expect from a free program is a taste of what PT is, now that you like it buy the digi001 or AM3. Your still stuck with thier proprietary hardware but who really dosnt know this? And they better be giving LE away for free cause I think that them leaving off the smpte timeline reduced the app from 1000 dollar status to less than free.
