Avid Artist Mix - only ports 1-4 work, I've tried everything!

I have a brand new Avid Artist mix using Eucon 3.1 on mac pro OSX 10.9.1.
Whatever I try, only the first 4 ports show up in any application.
Pro Tools integration works fine, but any other app works only if it is set to ports 1-4 in the Eucon prefpane. Ports 5-8, 9-12... never work and are never visible in audio midi setup or in any application.

Since you need a reboot every single time you change this, controlling more than non-eucon 1 application is just not possible which is really annoying.

I have tried trashing prefs, setting permissions on prefs folder, trashing everything and reinstalling, clearing all kinds of system caches, but nothing will work. Only 4 ports show up in Audio Midi setup. It's just not updating anything there.
Some others seem to have had this problem but afaik no one has posted the exact fix for this...

What can I do to make this work?

Has no one had this same issue? Still not been able to solve it.

Only ports 1-4 can be used in Mackie Mode, so only one application can be used at a time in the list in system preferences.

Driver update 3.1.2 did NOT solve this issue

have you tried the hardware-test`
on my first mix, ch4 was brocken. i got a new unit from my dealer. now everything is fine

Yes obviously the hardware is fine, and it's working perfectly as Eucon device.

Problem is with Mackie controlled apps, only one can be used at a time in the Eucon prefs, as only ports 1-4 can be used.

Finally found a bug in eucontrol that provides sort of a workaround.

Add one application to the list in system preferences > Eucon, ports 1-4
Have that application open all the time while you work in mackie controlled apps.
Lock surface to that application in the Eucontrol Settings.
It will lock Eucon to ports 1-4.
Assign all your other Mackie enabled apps to ports 1-4.
(or the ones where Eucon won't work, §#3&##)
Application switching is a bit jumpy but seems to work here.

All these issues, as well as stability, should really be adressed!!!
Everywhere you go, you see trouble with Eucon.
