Automate External Hardware synth via MIDI CC

If I have all the MIDI CC info from my synth manufacturer, is there a way to to aumotate the synth parameters from within Pro tools ? I have seen folks set this up very easily in Logic, and obviously Ableton Live.

Ok so, if not via MIDI CC, maybe MIDI SysEx?

I find it very hard to beleive that Ableton, Digital Performer, Logic and even FL studio can let you set this up and write/automate midi cc data to external synths with minimal effort and the Industry standard Pro Tools 10.3.4 can't?

If you make any type of modern Urban electronic music, and you have hardware synths that accept MIDI, this is not a luxury but a neccessity. (and Yes I can do this with plugins on protools but not external synths)

I have scoured the ends of the internets to only come accross some painstaking archaic Sysex dump thingy, but no write/automation? Really? Surely, i said to myself "Pro tools 10.3.4 is a leading edge DAW programming company, surely the Avid forum guys will help my dumba** with this"

If no dice, then can someone maybe explain the financial or design reasoning as to why a leading DAW manufacturer in 2013 cannot let you do this?

do you mean the learn midi CC function ?

al lot of instrument plugins allow this : right click a control in the GUI and see if there's a 'learn midi cc' menu option. If so this function will allow you to map that specific function to a midi controller knob or fader.

Or do you mean the midi editor window, where you can view and edit the automation for any midi cc you want ?

I mean the latter (Thanks for responding btw)

I use the learn function on the plugin parameters (i.e: filter cutoffs, distortion amount etc) that I want to midi control.

I also then add them to the list of parameters I want automated in the instrument track to then have all kinds of sequenced automation going using Pro tools pencil write-tool (cos my controller knob tweak performance is not DJ perfect )

NOW.....

I would very much like to do this writing for MIDI out CC parameters (to my external synths), and as you have kindly pointed out, I can do this in the MIDI editor window where I have my notes?

Please verify, (preferably with specifics) cos if this is true, My Prophet 08 will be getting bossed around by Pro tools Midi out CC's tonight!

Oh but I'm far from a midi expert. I leave that up to more courageous folk than myself.

But I'm pretty sure that you can send any midi cc data to your external synths.
