ilok problems again!!
The green light is lit on the ilok, however it is not being recognised when I open a protools session.
When the authorization window comes up I get the followin error message: "This version of maxim requires authorization to run, but no hardware key can be found. Please install the hardware key for this software" I have tried re-installing the pace drivers and software to no avail. Please help me ASAP as I have a deadline I have to meet. This is the second time my ilok has gone bad [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

If the iLok lights up, it should be okay. Is there a chance that you were previously running in demo mode and didn't know it?
Make sure you've installed the correct binary, and try to re-auth using the license file, smart card, or whatever you received. --Erik |

Thanks for the reply
The plugins were not in demo mode. I am not sure what you mean by binary though. I tried to reinstall, however protools cannot detect the ilok at all, even with the smart card attached.

I tried swapping the ilock around and still no recognition.

I have constant problems with USB devices including mBox on a iBook and even a VST floppy drive on my G4. It seems you need to constantly disconnect and reconnect the usb device to get it to work. Is this a USB driver issue?

There have been numerous Apple firmware and OS releases to patch various USB glitches. Check the Apple website for your machine if you have problems.
Likewise, many of the problems relate to power management. Using a powered hub may help. --Erik |

Well that was pretty cool. Steve from tech support gave me a call to help out with the problem.
Message to Jordan from tech support - sorry my cell phone died but I managed to get the ilok working again. I'm not sure what actually fixed it, but I swapped the extension folder to a modified base set. It asked me to delete some disabled files that I had doubles of. Some had a few bits of info missing, so I guess they may have been corrupted. I couldn't start protools from the base set of extensions (I guess I hadn't sellect all the extension I needed). So I swapped back to my original protools set. Now everything works fine. Amazing really - I thought I was going to be in for a very long night. Thanks Guys for the help.

Help!!!
I was wondering if this issue has been resolved. I just got my HD3 upgrade with 192 i/o and the HD3 Pack version 2.0 Plugin bundle. I was able to authorise just about everything (except Maxim which is asking for a response) but as soon as I try to open a plugin, the iLok isn't recognised. I have to pu the license card back into the iLok to get it working again. Could there be an extension conflict? |
