Default Mbox 2 Pro with compressor (RNC) ?

Hi...

I've got bit of a problem, I think.
I'm not sure how to connect my compressor (RNC) to my Mbox 2 Pro.
As it is now I have it like this:
http://www.gratisupload.dk/download/35601/

But then, when I put something on my track, guitar, bass, drums etc., my comp. lights up and it seems like there is something going into it, but the signal I get in my monitors is unchanged, even if I turn the knobs like crazy.

Even when I just play music in fx. Winamp I get the comp. to react, but as in Pro Tools, nothing is changed - which is good in this situation, because I don't want a compressed music file every time I play something :)

So what am I doing wrong ? Is it the connection, or something in Pro Tools I need to change ?

Thanks in advance.

- Ylle

looks like you are sending the signal back from the RNC to either 3 or 4 but you have the in on the return channel set to 2. We have an Mbox pro and wrote on the back which inputs are which because the labeling is screwey and seems backasswards

It's only when it on Analog 1-2, Analog 1 or Analog 2 the comp. reacts.
If I put it on 3-4 or something, nothing happens, so...

What ultimately are you trying to accomplish with this?

The Mbox line is really not condusive to using inserts(really, LE in general is not good at hardware inserts). If you REALLY need to record WITH a compressor, I would get a decent external mic pre, patch it thru the RNC and then into a line input on the Mbox. Remember to go easy as you can always add more compression with plugins, but you can never get rid of too much if its recorded that way.

Hmmm...
But an external pre is hardware, so wouldn't that just go against what you said about Mbox being sucky at external hardware ? :)

I said hardware INSERTS. Using external mic preamps is and has always been a piece of cake(and patching thru a compressor is just as simple with 1 added cable).
