new system experiencing problems with latency
I believe that i'm having an issue with my firewire ports. The pc i'm using is brand new. i had it custom built. protools runs fine, but whenever i try to record through my firewire 1814, there's a wicked delay. i tried adjusting the playback buffer to no avail. i'm pretty clueless as to what to do.

Re: new system experiencing problems with latency
Did you mean the Hardware buffer? Your post says Playback buffer, which is not going to solve your recording problem. For recording you want to adjust the Hardware Buffer to as low as your system will handle. I usually use 128 samples for cutting drums and 256 samples for cutting everything else.
