Default Hangin\' for 7.4

Hey all,

I am hanging out to get my teeth into 7.4
Is it safe yet?
Have the waveform issues been sorted?
midi timing I have seen up here was also an issue, is that fixed?

Basically, I am a 7.3.1 user and it is running really well
I want to upgrade, but like many am a little scared that I may end up in the [bleep] with 7.4 teething problems. I can't afford to be out of action.

Your thoughts.......
Dogon

7.3.1
OS X 10.4.10
002
2Gig
Mac Mini
Lots of different plugs

This system is rocking. Songs with 30 tracks of more with plugs all over, very happy. It's not HD but hey, it's doing what I want.

dogon, all due respect...if you can't afford to be out of action, why take that chance (with any upgrade)?

I understand completely the enticement of upgrading to the latest and greatest.

However, if you DO upgrade to 7.4, you can always downgrade back to 7.3.1, right? As long as you have the 7.3. disk, I wouldn't imagine why you would have a problem reverting if you had issues.

BUT if you don't have that kind of time (middle of a project, whatever)...go with what works, and obviously works well for you.

Good luck!

I'd hold out and wait...

the amazing part of 7.4 is elastic time... for me its awesome for stretching a full instrumental track.... locks up well with the grid unlike the time shift plug-in which tends to trail from the grid as the song goes on... stretching vocals isnt great though... ive noticed clicks and pops... Logic works better for me for that... thats all ive used elastic time for though

the waveforms problem isnt worth upgrading if you track a lot of vocals and edit on the fly like me... if you track vocals and edit later then its not an issue cuz you can just recalculate before you edit

I have also noticed problems working off a 7.4 LE session in other studios running 7.3 HD... so that could be a 7.4 LE ---> 7.4 HD problem ....or 7.4 to 7.3 problem in general... so im not going back to 7.3... cuz i have way too many sessions done in 7.4

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! God bless!

If you use extensively midi, I'd wait for a while...

From Digi CS, 3/7/08:

We are definitely working on it.

In the meantime, making sure any wireless devices (airport/bluetooth/etc) are OFF, as well as turning off RTAS Error Suppression in Pro Tools can tighten up MIDI performance.
