What are you using the green drive for exacly?

It is crap and will never be funtional with Pro Tools and should be taken out back and shot

I would guess that the green drive is one issue and the databases and preferences are another. Did you delete all that as described here :

The Green drive holds the hourly Time Machine backups of a the disks. I'll take it out. Other research made me wonder about the PCIe slot. I just now moved it to the 16X slot right above the video card - but it made no difference.

Have you deleted the prefs and databases etc and done the PRAM when starting the mac and seen what happens?

Also make sure that the pcie card is in slot 3 as we had some issues and went away after these actions

Best
Christopher

I always trash the prefs at the first sign of less than optimal performance. :)

I had moved the PCIe card from slot 4 to slot 2, with no change. But moving it to slot 3 seems to have had a major impact. Sessions that would not play at the highest buffer setting (2048) now play at the lowest (64).

BTW. Removing the Green HD made no difference.

Thanks for all the help!

Well atleast something we moved to slot 3 and thats why I asked for you to do so aswell. Regarding the green drive, since it is used as a backup I would not expect any resolve as you don't use it for recording or OS deive and thats good.

How are you tracking along now with the slot 3 try?

Chris

Time Machine being active could be an issue
You should open up the Activity Monitor and watch what it does

What Interface is being used?
8GB of RAM, what size sticks?
How did you get to Mavericks? clean install or on top of upgrade
