Default AAX and Backwards Compatibility with TDM Sessions

One of the great things about Pro Tools software and TDM all these years has been the its backwards compatibility. If I have current versions of the plug ins used on any given session, there's a very good chance I can open it in the future, with all the settings for the plugs intact.

Now, imagine a scenario where TDM is gone and I want to open an older session that used TDM plugs. Assuming I have AAX versions of the same TDM plug ins I used in the old session, will the new AAX plugs be able to read and restore those settings?

If this is the case, then my hat is off to Avid. If not, then this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Anyone have info on this?

RTAS will be gone too. The question is: how will my legacy TDM sessions open up in AAX. Will the plug in settings be maintained?

If the equivalent aax version is available PT10 use it and recall the settings from the PT9 or earlier session. This was confirmed by DigiTechSuport on a previous thread. Looks like most will be ported, but TC, Echo Farm, PS22, Amp farm and Dolby Tools may not make it. I'm not happy about losing Echo farm.
