error -9073
Session with about 30-40 tracks flashes -9073 error message (disk too slow or fragmented) upon playback. This happens irregardless of whether the audio files are split among multiple hard drives. Defragmenting drives does not help. Problem follows cpu but NOT the scsi card.
Happens with both 4.3.2 and 5.0 (with corresponding DAE/DSI installed). Beige G3 300mhz 192MB RAM OS8.6 24mix w/DSP farm 888/24 x3 Adaptec 3940UW (firmware 4.1) Seagate Cheetah 8.5GB x2 (or more depending on config) HDT 3.0.2 disk cache 512k playback buffer 2 memory allocation: PT5.0 (40MB) DAE (40MB) We have 4 more similarly equipped units (some are mix plus) which work fine with similar size sessions. Although it seems unlikely, could the digidesign hardware have anything to do with it? Mac hardware? Again, the problem does go away when the mac cpu is replaced with another. I've tried pretty much all that I can think of (expect swapping digi cards). Could someone point me in the right direction? |

Re: error -9073
Check the DAE Playback Buffer size on the offending system. It should normally be at 2. If it's at 1 or 0, that's probably the culprit.
Hope this helps. ------------------ --Steve Rosenthal, Digidesign ETS
