Longer cable for Digi 001?
Does anyone know if Digi makes a longer cable for the Digi 001? I.e. the cable that connects the Digi 001 to the PC interface card.
I wish mine was 1-3' longer. Thanks, Ron |

Re: Longer cable for Digi 001?
From what Digi post in their F.A.Q. section, the answer is no. The length of the cable is it's maximum.

Re: Longer cable for Digi 001?
Well 1.8 meters is 5.9 feet. The 'standard' 001 cable is 6 feet.

Re: Longer cable for Digi 001?
It is my belief that the cable caries analog signals for all of the analog ins and outs on the rack-mount break-out box (the converters are on the card). I emailed Digidesign a while ago to have them confirm or deny my belief but never received a reply. Anyway, be careful when selecting a longer cable; your audio goes through there, and it ain't digital!

Re: Longer cable for Digi 001?
Do a search as I listed the manufacturer of this cable and you can get them up to 12 feet. It was last year that we came up with this info. Sorry I don't have a link anymore. I think it was English Jim who found it so you can try emailing him for the info.
Good luck, Allen |

Re: Longer cable for Digi 001?
Someone posted this a while back. Hope this helps.
Cable Extension Success!! I, too longed to move my noisy Mac into an enclosed rack away from my mixing environment, but was told by Digi Tech Support that a longer cable was not , it wouldn't be supported. When I said I'd like to take my chances and asked for aavailable and if I obtained one on my own spec on the unusual connector so that I could try to obtain a 3rd party cable, the technie said he didn't know and had no way of finding out. (Ahhh, "service.") So, I did a little hunting online and ID'd the connector on the Digi001 I/O cable as a rare SCSI-2 connector known as a "micro-centronics 50" (sometimes called a "mini-centronics" or a "HPCN50"). More surfing turned up CS Electronics, a supplier of custom cables in Irvine, CA. For $47.50, they made me a 10-foot replacement cable, which I had in my hands within 48 hours!! Great quality, too. Have been using it with my Digi001 with no ill effects or timing errors. Don't know if cable lengths longer than 10' would cause the problems that Digi cautions against but, for me, it was worth the shot and it paid off -- no thanks to DigiDesign. Contact CS Electronics at (949) 475-9100, or http://www.cselex.com or [email protected]. <<<
