Default PT 10 & my 002 worked last night but not now

I did a clean uninstall of PT 8 LE fresh install of 002 drivers from the web & clean install of PT 10. Last night everything worked fine. 002 & pt 10 worked
together flawlessly.I was able to play back previous sessions & do a test recording all good. This morning I fire up the system & no 002 function .
What am I doing wrong? HELP!

It's really hard to troubleshoot a problem like this without more info, such as your computer, OS version, actual symptoms (does the 002 light up? does it say it's got a firewire connection?) and so on.

That said, my first thought as an 002 Rack owner is that PT has lost communication with the 002. This is a known bug in the drivers and is easily rectified by going to the Setup menu, choosing Playback Engine and from there, changing the buffer size. This should force the drivers to connect. yes, this is a bit of a pain, and it does happen fairly regularly. Avid doesn't say they're working on a complete fix and at this late date (since there's a workaround) I doubt we'll see one.

Otherwise, things to check are that you have the correct drivers installed, is the firewire cable unseated or damaged in some way (if you have access to another cable, try swapping it for the old one). It may also be a good idea to re-install PT 10, but do the "Clean Uninstall" first. The uninstaller program should be in the .dmg file you downloaded from Avid... Oh, and make sure you're using the latest installer for your machine.

Reinstall the drivers for DIGI 002 after every Pro Tools upgrade/install/reinstall. Restart the computer and it'll work.

I am running a macmini 3,1
OS X 10-6-8 2.53 ghz & 4 gig ram.
I record to a Glyph GT050Q 1 gig hard drive @ 7200 rpm.
The 002 console reads DIGI 002 Standby (the green led for the fire wire link is glowing green)

What I don't understand is that it was running fine when I closed PT 10 Put the mini into sleep mode & turned off the 002 console last night. This morning I cant seem to get PT10 to recognize the 002.

Wow, Colinmansfield, you're a genius, thanks!

I was having a very similar problem and was about to post about it and then saw this, went into the Playback Engine and changed the buffer size, then it recognized it.

Am running a Mac 10.7 OS with a Digi 002 Rack, also woke up this morning and a previously running-fine system all of a sudden wouldn't play through the 002 rack (interestingly, PT opened and worked fine, but the sound was going through my computer speakers and I couldn't get it to recognize the 002 Rack by any of the usual methods- change preferences, turn on and off, change firewire cables, etc.).

I have noticed a lot of problems like this since I upgraded to PT 10 (from 8) a couple months ago- things are running fine, I don't change anything, but then something stops working. Not good. But like you said, I'm not waiting around for Avid to offer any help...

I had a problem where PT 10 would not find any of my hardware choices. I then read a post that said to "hold the the letter n on the keyboard while starting up PT. It take you to a window where you can select your interface. It worked for me with all 4 of my interfaces.( an 002, 002r, mbox with midi, and my Presonus Firestudio mobile) You might still have to go to the setup page and select your input paths, should be default. It worked for me. I hope this helps you out.

OK starting to make a little progress.... PT 10 opened when I held down the “N” after the 3rd uninstall then reinstall PT l0 actually opened a PT file... but it still wont recognize my 002 or make a sound out of my interface... So what sacrifice do I have to make to the PT 10 Gods next? Thanks for the hold down the “N” tip!
