Default Unable to Locate DigiDesign Hardware!

Rant------------> Pro Tools SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
Non stop problems! Its incompatible with everything and complete junk!!!! 2nd computer and still issues... Last one was HP pAVILLION, this one Acer Aspire... It never recognizes its own hardware (mbox3) even when the computer has no problem!!!
I cant understand how they get away with selling this??? This product is a joke!

Like, Can you explain why i have to download a program to tell u everything about my computer (Sandra) simply because YOU cannot make a program that works??? A program that i pay good money for (Pro tools), Cant return, and spend countless hours attempting to "optimize" my computer so it MIGHT have a chance of working???

Problem----------------> Unable to locate digidesign hardware!!!

haven't even got the program RE-installed to activation this time!!

Upgraded to 8.0.5 le... downloaded mbox3 mini drivers... "optimized" with suggested optimizations!

Tried downloading SANDRA to submit report but that took hours and my frustration overcame to me cancelling the download after 2 hours!

Acer Aspire 5742-6811
Intel Core i5-480M
6 GB RAM
640 GB HDD

Any suggestions???

So let me understand this.....everything sucks and none of it is your fault?! Sounds about right for someone new to PT that hasn't done their homework. Start with a compatible computer, then run the installer following the directions to the letter, attach a compatible interface, with the proper drivers installed(before installing Pro Tools) and 9 out of 10 setups will work fine(but incompatible computers rarely ever work). I feel your pain, but trust me when I tell you, Pro Tools is an excellent program and is capable of great results(but it doesn't happen by magic) Until you can post a SiSandra report, nobody will be able to help as we don't know if either computer is compatible. Of course, you can always try installing the Mbox drivers and Reaper(which isn't nearly as finicky).

Welcome to the world of ProTools dude.

It's a love/hate relationship....but like everything in life, if it's too easy, it ain't worth anything.

Your lucky your playin nice with albee, if anyone can get you up n runnin...he can.

Are you trying to download Sandra from here

www.sisoftware.co.uk

Under SiSoftware Sandra, click on "Download & Buy" to download the free Sandra Lite version or purchase other versions. After installing Sandra, click on the 'Hardware' tab and run the 'Computer Overview', then copy and paste into your post here on the DUC.

Cuz it shouldn't take that long to download. (can take awhile to generate a report though).

Mis-matched RAM can cause troubles(I would try removing the Elpida 2GB stick and see if it helps). You need to disable the wifi when running Pro Tools. Integrated graphics can be a show stopper too(a good reason why laptop PC's are such a crap shoot). The Sandra does not show the speed of the external drive. You need to be recording to a 7200 rpm drive(maybe you can find that detail out?).

If you take the 2GB RAM stick out, you may need to check your motherboard manual to see which DIMM socket to put the 4GB into. Some PC mobos are very particular about that, though I'm not so familiar with Laptops with regards to this.

I would also disable ECC control in BIOS.

If you get things running without all this stuff, you could then put things back one at a time to see whats causing the problem.

Default Re: Unable to Locate DigiDesign Hardware!

I just purchased pro tools Le mbox mini 3 and had it running perfectly on my newly purchased HP (anthlon II x4 3ghz with 5M ram) yesterday night. I went through some tutorials and laid a few tracks. This morning I turned on the computer and started PT, then the pop-up. "Unable to locate digidesign hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on." I did nothing other then save, exit, and shut down. Like yourself, I went to digidesign and downloaded drivers, re-installed, and patched the 8.0.5.

Whats frustrating is that I had this crap working and all the sudden it poops...And I cant call tech support on a Sunday. If Sham WOW or the Slap Chop can have 24 your support then so should AVID.
