audiomidi setup and MIDI IO
HI,
im using the MIDI IO (IF,interface) with the pt10hd native system. im haveing trouble getting the audiomidi setup to see just one midi interface consistently. ive been trying to duplicate the problem without success. here's whats happens: in audiomidi setup the appears a phantom (greyed out) midi IF, which sometimes REPLACES the non greyed out IF. (all the ext midi devices are connected to the phantom IF) so no connections happen to ext devices. i will reboot, and sometimes the problem go away. sometimes i have to repatch the midi dev's to the online IF in audiomidi setup. also, sometimes a phantom midi IF appears next to the online IF in audiomidi setup. which i can delete without a problem... ive upgraded the MIDI IO to vers 2 firmware, by the book.(installed the latest MIDI IO driver by the book as well) i do have some other old mice and input devices on the system that dont always load (wacom tablet, kensingtom turbo mouse) but if i cycle the connection the drivers load and normal operation happens... any thoughts??

Re: audiomidi setup and MIDI IO
How many USB devices do you have hooked up at the same time? Remember that all the USB connectors on a Mac (or any computer for that matter) come off the same interface chip path so you might be overloading the USB buss in terms of pulling data through.

ya, i do have a bunch of input devices: turbomouse (old), reg mouse, wacom tablet (old), 2 powered usb hubs, 4 ilocks, midi io. the old devices:i did install the drivers ok...no crashing on the installs.. i have a mackie control universal connected to the midi io.. do you think i should put a usb card in the cpu? would that spread the workload? ill need to try removing some of them.. also, i do notice sometimes on a restart, the tubomouse and wacom dont work. i replug all (which are thur one main hub, except the midi io) and the wacom works, turbomouse does NOT. replug the turbomouse and it works... thanks for your sugg.! however, this doesnt seem to be related to the phantom midi IF appearing in audiomidi setup...
