You know what that means...Santa Claus is coming to town.

For the people that own original Mbox they were Naughty not nice.

I personally think they should continue to support anything they have ever made but that is why i don't work for them

She had a pretty solid run, coupled with a solid last release so she's going out with a bang, figuratively speaking, though I do use mine as a book end.

Maybe they could be marketed on Ebay this way.

For authenticity, I'll even chuck in a couple of paper-back reference guides, Tom.

That was my thought as well. This suggests to me that the next non-CS release of Pro Tools could be a signficant update, or that at least they are messing with the guts of PT and doing significant rewrites of the code base.

I like the sound of it anyway, seeing as I own an MBOX2 thank god - in the 4 years of working with PT I hear a lot of people asking for an internal tweak as opposed to more bells and more whistles.

64 bit drivers is my bet - maybe even ADC related?

Maybe the engineers are bored of the MBOX 1?

Possibly, they've been telling us that "ADC is practically stamped on the foreheads of all their engineers" and the original Mbox is the only LE interface with built in insert points, which may be proving problematic to their implementation of ADC (guess we'll have to see about H/W insert on the 002 / 003 range).

Or it could be firmware related.

Or it could be driver related.

Or it could just be deemed time to put it out to pasture.

All entirely speculation.

We'll just have to wait and see when the new Snow Leopard compatible version of PT is released, and what is around the corner both software and hardware wise, now that legacy peripherals and PCI expansion chassis also being thrown on the pile.
