Unable to import audio from .mov file

Hi there,

I've upgraded to Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 and PT 2020.12. When trying to import an audio track from a QT movie or Mp4, the audio import does not start and the system locks up (spinning beach ball) when I hit the cancel button.
Anyone else seeing this?

you can always open the MOV in Quicktime and Save As Audio...

I've Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 and PT 2020.11 on my MBP and it imports audio from an mp4 without any probs. I think this should work just as well in 2020.12, so I'd try a clean session, a few different mov files and also trashing prefs.

Thanks for the workaround C. That's working.

I've tested import of various audio file formats and all are working well.

I completed all the Mac OS optimizations, trashed pref's and reinstalled PT.
Still cannot extract the audio from a QT or mp4 video file. The allocation for the audio track appears, then I select the destination folder, the "process window appears and nothing happens. Hitting cancel causes the aplication to crash..the mac spinning beach ball.
I'll keep trying an report back if I find the culprit.

I don't have the lock or crashing issue, however, I get the occasional grayed-out checkbox for "Import audio from file" during Video Import when I select a video file.

I looked up the file format (video and audio) of those video files (Get info) but cannot make out any pattern. These are all different file types (.mov, .m4v, .mp4) with different embedded audio formats (PCM, AAC)

Yes we see it too from time to time.
My workaround is extracting the audio with Compressor, then importing and lining it up with the video.
