OMF... AV to MC 10.1/ Mac
Can anyone help?
We have been having problems trying to export AudioVision Projects out to the new Media Composer versions... both for NT and Mac. We have tried numerous ways but always seem to encounter a problem. Can anyone post up or even email me a step by step how to do this correctly or is there some sort of bug? I am pretty well versed on the OMF export/ import thang between AVIDs, ProTools and AudioVision and am very stumped on this one. Thanks in advance. P |

My understanding is that you can only export master clips from Audiovision into a Media composer(due to the sub frame editing),but you can do this with Protools using Digitranslator. Tony |

Pat:
What kind of error messages are you getting? Is it the "edit rate does not match..."? Are you giving them OMF2.0 sequences or OMF1.0? Consolidated media or original reference media?

Re: OMF... AV to MC 10.1/ Mac
Thanks for the responses...
Here is what I have tried so far.... 1. Save AV project as a PT 4.3.2 session. Open PT session in version 5.0.1. Save session as a 5.0.1 session. Convert 5.0.1 session to OMF via DT (digitranslator... most recent version). In DT we have tried as many different options and permutations as we could think of... quantize edits- checked/ unchecked consolidate media/ copy media embedded/ separate folder for media After importing to MC with embedded media the error message we get trying to play is... FMM_INSUFFICIENT_MEDIA the sequence shows up fine with all edits in appropriate order. AND we are able to drag individual clips to the edit window and play it from there. After importing to MC with non embedded media, we do not get an error message when trying to play, BUT the system acts as if there is no audio in the clips but if you scroll across the sequence one track seems to output audio... but only if you scroll. I won't even try exporting OMF from AV because then would have to import via OMFTool to ProTools (vers 4.3.2) then open in PT 5.0.1. Save as 5.0.1. Use DT to convert to OMF again... 2 consolidations does not make for happy media with handles. I hope this sheds a little lite. Thanks |
