002 not working with Presonus Digimax LT?

I thought the Digimax LT was supposed to be a slam dunk with the 002, but it ain't working for me.

I set the Digimax LT to clock at 44.1 kHz, and in Pro Tools -> Hardware Setup I set the 002 to clock at 44.1 kHz, taking its clock from ADAT. I get word clock pops.

If I set the 002 clock to internal, I get MORE word clock pops, so I know something is kind of good about setting the 002 to receive external clock from the ADAT light pipe, but even with the 002 clock set to ADAT, I get word clock pops.

I have had a short session or two where this didn't happen, but mostly it happens.

Any clues what I'm doing wrong? My setup worked great until I added the Digimax LT. If you guys can't help me resolve this, the LT is going back to the store where I bought it.

OK, so I think I'm a little red-faced.

I had been afraid to push the optical cable hard into the back of the Digimax, but it did seem rather too loose to me. So I went ahead and gave it a good push, and it went in fully for the first time. With that done, the pops went away. By unplugging the optical cable and varying how far it's inserted, I'm able to get more or less pops, so I know that was the problem. With it plugged in, there are no pops.

Oops.

Problem solved, apparently. Stupid user.

i think you did the right thing and practiced caution when using new or unfamiliar gear. good job. i'm the same way especially with new gear! remember to set the clock to adat (you probably already know that)

glad you found out yourself that the connector won't break if you insert it properly however, as i too use digimax lt with my 002R, i have to say that the light output of the unit is not the brightest --> use better cables than you think would be necessary, and keep all connectors free from dust at all times.

it's a nice little unit, have fun with it.
