Default analog drums...

i never tried before to record on 1" tape analog machine...i have the shot to do it on a Fostex machine,,,someone can tell me if the 1" tape gonna sound better than my 001? do i need convertors later to import from the tape? i dont have good convertors...so, am i wasting time recording on analog importing the to digital without good converters like apogee or RME? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">sure,
but one day you need to try things like this to find out what these Analog Boys are talking about... even if it is on a Fostex.

You will learn something and it is more than likely going to help you in the long run.

We Di some A/B tests with Mix and our Studer with drums. There was a lot more noise and crosstalk that digital. The stereo image was not as good on the Studer and the detail was also washed out. With problems like wow and flutter, crosstalk The studer just did not work well. But if want the dirt and grit analog is the way to go.

It's insane to even suggest that any digi gear can hold a candle to a properly set up studer 2" for recording drums. Every new hardware or software update that comes down the pipe is put to the same test around here. Record the same source on three formats A-800, Radar and tools. Listen back and let the opinions fly.
PT w/192 was at the bottom of the list. I say align that ol' fostex and she what she'll do!!
PS: NEVER "just stay with what you know"
