Automation Follows Edit bug 2023.12

Hi All,

Finding a big bug in PT 2023.12 with Automation Follows Edit. If I copy/paste a clip with automation from one section to another with it in Blue (on) the automation follows the paste, but when it’s orange (off) it still pastes the automation.

Can anyone else confirm this on their end too?

Hasn't this always been the case? It affects the data of the copy process, not the paste AFAIK.

No. Try this in 2023.9. Works as intended. This broke in .12

I only have 2023.12 installed so that's all I can test on.

When automation follows edit is enabled, and edit selection will automatically encompass all automation lanes even when they are not visible.

But you are right that if you copy a selection with AFE enabled, and then turn it off and paste, it still pastes automation which doesn't quite make sense since the edit cursor doesn't extend into the automation lanes. Curious to hear from the developers regarding this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It does affect the Copy not the paste. So if you copy with AFE On it will retain the automation in the clipboard even if you then turn AFE Off. Been that way as long as I can remember. It has be Off before you Copy.

Interesting! I've been using this program for about 15 years now and just learned something new. Thank you for clarifying that function everyone. Disregard this as a "Bug" then.
