Hello. Pro Tools uses up to 512 MB. More than that tends to be overkill. However, if you have other applications on your computer, specially if you are going to have them open at the same time, go up to 1 Gig maybe. If it's just Pro Tools and nothing else, 512 MB should be fine

I am using 1.75 GBs. and when my G5 comes, I will be using 4 Gigs! ProTools only uses 512Mb, but if you run any other apps, like other sound programs w/ protools it's VERY worth it. Ram is good to have even if your not using PTs, everything works better!

As much as you can afford!

You won't regret it, everything should work smoother.

What about DAE, or is that gone in PT6? RAM is cheap these days, so it makes sense to add plenty of memory.

So where is the best place to buy the right kind of RAM, online, for the best price? I need 512 for G-4 867.

Thanks
Richard

Weel I don't know what memory got your machine, I think it's already ddr memory. Maybe 2100 (266),But You need Kingston memory, that apple aproves it. I got some memory incopatibility problems on my mac running osx. Try macmall.

Have a good one.

Our allocations are 250mb for PT, 200mb for DAE. We have our G-4 tanked at 1.5gb.
