Default Oktava? Anbody Oktava?

I was looking into the Oktava MK319 as my main studio vocal mic. The list price is high ($700), but it retails for only about $200. The baby bottle mic lists for about the same, but retails for $500!!

Any experience? Id like some suggestions on the Oktava!! Thanks guys!

I've got a MK-319. In general it's a better vocal mic for studio applications than an SM-58. It tends to be a bit tinny, so it works better on bassy vocalists. I haven't managed to get any decent acoustic guitar sounds from it. I get better kick drum sounds with it than an AKG D-112. And it does okay on snares too.

If you're looking for a great vocal mic this probably ain't it. If you've only got $200 to spend and you don't have any condensers yet this might be a good place to start. It's generally better sounding than a dynamic mic for vocals.

My $.02

Mike

Damn. Too bad.

Well let's bump it up to $300. It's just seeing such a high list price and then finding it only selling for 1/3 the price, it's tempting.

I will only be suding this for vocals and acoustic guitars, and it needs to be able to handle these all somewhat well. I've used a SM58 Beta, and got outstanding results. But are there any mics out there you'd suggest? Anyone? AKG anyone?!

Thought about a shure KSM 27? (Around $300) or any rode mic's? The 27 seems to do excellent on the things youve mentioned. (For the money anyway!)

Look no further than the Studio Projects C1. For 200, you will be amazed. I seriously believe that it is the best mic under 700 dollars you can buy. The new versions also have a bass roll off/pad switch which makes them even more versatile. Check it out at www.macmidimusic.com they have great prices and great support.
