Default oktava mk 012

Hey, this is probably a dumb question. I've been recording thru my mbox for a while, i use a condenser mic, etc. however, when i attach my oktava mk-012 i get nothing, no signal.. i dont know if its something to do with phantom power or whatever, im just wondering if theres some dumb thing i forgot to do or if it depends on the type of mic, etc.

thanks.

andy

yes, doesnt work whether phantom power is on or not. this also occurred with a mic a long time ago so i was just wondering maybe its a setting i don't know to tweak in protools or maybe just certain mics need something else to power it up.

no it should power up just like any other Condenser you have. When you swap back and fourth between the condenser you normally use and the Oktava, does your normal Condenser work with the same settings? Have you tried the Oktava on a separate system or through a mixer to test it to make sure it is functioning properly? Don't forget to turn off Phantom before you plug or unplug the mics, people have fried their condensers like that before. Anyway, maybe you could do some more tests and let us know the results for more info on the issue.

I originally got the oktava for my camera (dvx) and it worked just connecting it straight into the camera. i'll try turning the phantom power on and off when i change mics. thanks for the replies.
