Default Avid TC/E Plug-In...

Is anyone else seeing this:

I do a lot of 10, 15 and 30 second commercials, most of which are overwritten and require time compression. Prior to PT 11, to time compress a file, I would type in the length I wanted the file to be, hit enter and then render.

In the new TC/E plug-in in PT 11, when I type in the length I want and hit enter, the time jumps to much larger than the original time. I have to go into the original length shown and, between the colons (:) type in the time. For example, if the original time is 0:31:105 and I want the file to 29.5 seconds, I have to change the 31 to 29, then change the 105 to 000, then render.

Not a show stopper, but time consuming. Bug?

Cheers,

I do time stretching in Wavelab, but could this not work; select to show time>consolidate(if needed) and use the TC/E tool to drag the end of the audio back to the time you want?

Does it do what you want if you just type a colon first?

example: you have a 30 second clip you want to be 28 seconds. Audio suite TC/E, select the length field, type ":28" and hit enter.

Not that I remember. IIRC I have to individually type the numbers inbetween the colons.

albee, I could use the TC/E Trim Tool, but sometimes it's a time that needs to be precise.

I just wanted to know if others were seeing the same issue. Then it's time to report a bug.

Thanks,

I need to this periodically as well. However, I don't work using the audiosuite plug in. Instead, I create a clip group of the files, or playlist and consolidate the edits, set my grid to seconds/milliseconds and TCE to the grid value.

Update. I've found typing in as follows, as an example, will do what I want:

Original: 30.125 seconds

I type in 0:29.500 and hit enter and the time stays. Must put in 0: at beginning.

Cheers,

That's what I thought was the fix, only I thought you just needed to type the colon and not the zero. As in :29.5 instead of 0:29.500. That's how mine reacts here, at any rate.

Tried that, no joy. Have to have the 0:

Maybe a PC/Mac difference?

Grid mode and TCE trim tool will be precise as you want.
