Default Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 mp3 option install

I hope I help many of you out there because AVID and Pro Tools certainly are not doing a good job of this one.

You're supposed to see this if you have problems with your mp3 export upgrade:

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=357165

Which will tell you the following:

Quote:
Pro Tools 8 DVD Installer
If you have the Pro Tools 8 installation DVD, the MP3 Option installer can be found on the disk here:
Additional Files\Options Installers

Pro Tools 8 Download Installer
If you installed Pro Tools 8 from the downloadable web installer, you will need to download the MP3 Option installer separately from below.
First of all, thank you AVID for NOT bringing it to my attention in the first place!

Second, this fix is STILL WRONG. To create even more confusion and frustration, the instructions are wrong and misleading. I already spent money buying my downloaded mp3 option and it DIDN'T WORK. It told me it didn't detect Pro Tools. Great. Then after looking here I find that I'm supposed to go to my DVD that I installed the program with.

Why it didn't install on it's own while I was originally installing it? Who knows....it could've been set up to do so after the main program was installed...but no matter.

If you have the DVD install for 8.0.3 you can find the mp3 export "upgrade" software on the installation DVD here:

"D:\Additional Files\3rd Party Content\MP3 Option Setup.exe"

..not in "Additional Files" which will just waste MORE of the time you're already bound to waste because it's in a bundle and you figure you might as well see if it works for you....but it's trying my patience.

I'll report back if I still have problems with this feature.

Cheers.
