Default (-9093) Error... need help... frustrated

I'm hungry, grumpy (thin line from been pissed) and really frustrated... just got this computer today... I'm getting this error "The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the 'H/W Buffer Size' in the Playback Engine Dialog. (-9093)" ---- this happens after a few seconds, when I try to increase the H/W buffer size I get another error, opposite of this message ..... I've optimized my system to its best performance, I've gone through a countless number of threads trying to look for an answer... but I give up... need a hand please thanks.

P.S. I'm thinking it could be the firewire card... maybe too old??

You got this system......TODAY. What an antique Yowsa.... Where do I start?
Mis-matched RAM is never a good idea(pull the 512 sticks and see what happens). Then, I only see a single hard drive and you MUST MUST MUST record to a separate drive(adding a 7200 rpm internal is cheap, and gives the best performance) if you can fit one in the case. Otherwise, you will need to get a firewire drive with dual FW400 ports and the approved Oxford 9xx chipset. OWC Mercury are a good choice. By "with updates", I hope you mean cs6 and cs9(both required to work with SP3). The firewire is showing a TI controller, so that may not be the issue. Disable the network(at least until you start having success). You might also try going into video properties and choosing 16 bit color instead of 32 bit.

I got this error after updating to PT 10. Removing and reinstalling the driver for my 003 fixed it! Might not be the same remedy for you seeing as you have so many skeletons in your computer case! Adding onto what Al said, I'd just get rid of all that ram and get 4GB of matching new ram. The motherboard likely only supports up to 4GB. And make sure any extra crap or bloatware that they load onto these machines from the factory is not running in the background. Get rid of any McAfee or Norton crap or anything that would not come on a Windows install disk (unless you purposely added a specific app). If you must run antivirus, I suggest AVG free. Might be best to just start with a fresh Windows install with some new ram and second hard drive to sum it all up! Also, make sure you FW controller has the newest driver by going into device manager, right clicking the FW controller and selecting Update Drive, and have it find a new driver automatically. You should be connected to the internet as it will find and install the newest driver if one is available!

alright.... day 2... (8 hours of trouble shooting)

Before I buy anything I want to try removing the 512 Ram cards (which I did) the only problem now is that when I try to run PT it takes about 30 seconds to open and it gets stuck on "creating DAE objects" any thoughts??

Thanks for the help BTW.... I really appreciated

Ok, got protools to start with two "matching" 1gb memory sticks but I'm still getting the same error, -9129 -9093... one thing I've noticed from the system usage window in PT is that after a few seconds of playback (gotten up to minutes) the CPU bar starts to tweak and causes the error to pop up, not sure what could be triggering this.... Thoughts.

I re-installed my 002r drivers and nothing.

Question for you guys now, when you say matching RAM you mean x4 1gb sticks?? (this computer is upgradable to 8gb of RAM)

As albee has already pointed out... "you MUST MUST MUST record to a separate drive".

It can be 2 sticks or 4 sticks as long as they all match. Your current ram setup had 1GB sticks and 512MB sticks that ran at different speeds and timings. All ram sticks should be completely identical. Also, now that you have removed the 512's, the 1GB sticks should be in slots 1 and 3 (or Channel 1, ie same color slots). They shouldn't be right next to each other. Best to double check your motherboard manual to determine which colored slots are channel 1.

Buy new drives. WD Caviar Black are a good choice if you have SATA connections. I would never buy a used hard drive Check out the local Best Buy as they often have some great sales. Newegg.com is another good source. Sadly, drive prices are spiking right now due to floods that have closed some factories overseas

It's been quite a while since I followed the Windows specs closely, but are Athlons supported? I just dug for 20 minutes and didn't find anything but "Not Tested".
