Default USD or micro lynx for syncing logic to audiovision?

hi

we're looking to sync audiovision on a 9600 to logic running on a g4 - preferably where we can switch between the two as master. we have a Unitor8 for logic which will generate and resolve to VITC and LTC. deciding between the USD or the micro lynx for the audiovision. the rental on the microlynx is about double that of the USD, so we'd like to use the USD if it will work.

the problem is that in the audiovision manual it says that using the USD, audiovision will only output timecode in "Local mode" - not "Master mode". will this be a problem?

also, will the USD really allow audiovision to operate in slave mode?

thanks

harry
