Default Windows 7 64 bit and pro tools 9(002 rack FW)

Hi,

I am having some problems with my pc(amd x4, windows 7 64 bit) and digi 002((pro tools 9). Pro tools starts and runs but I get crackles. It sounds a bit like a clock problem. Is there anyone who has the same problem? Pro tools 9 and digi 002 rack runs very good on my mac so I think it´s just a matter of settings with windows 7. I also tried pro tools 9 (digi 002 rack) on xp, same problem there. Pro tools 7.3 works great with my digi 002.

Thanks Kai...

if there's a lot going on in your session, like even one complex reverb it might be the buffer size set to low for you computer to keep up.
try increasing the buffer size.

other than that, you didn't give us enough information. at the top of this site

Hi,

It´s not the buffer size. It also sounds like a clocking problem. What exactly do you need to know about my setup?

Pro tools 9.03
digi 002 rack (firewire)
latest driver from avid (digi002/003rack_v9)
Windows 7 64 bit

Like I said Pro Tools 7.3 runs flawless with the same setup. I could imagine something stupid like uninstalling internet explorer 8 could solve my problem. It´s also strange that I seem to be the only one with this particular problem. Unfortunately my support period is over and till now I only used my mac.

Ok Thanks I will try but I guess it´s a digi 002 problem. Forgot to tell you that it works with my mbox 2...

My vote is your 002 rack is fine. AVID has a driver issue. you mentioned it runs well under version7, that absolutely has different drivers. I had a 002 rack too and got the exact same results as you. In fact, I think I did all the things you did and probably more! Looks to me like the only difference between us is our processors, I think you are AMD, I am intel i7 950.

I had unusable sound quality and I purchased techsupport from AVID and.. My issue went unresolved. The last tech I spoke to mentioned I could escalate my case because they've been thru everything they know to do. I chose not too. for me my options was 1) wait for avid to release new functional drivers. 2) get new hardware that works. I can't run a studio with pops in the audio nor do I have time to wait for avid. So I chose option 2. and I kissed all my issues goodbye! and also I might add that I've been thru all those win7 optimazations and they didn't resolve all my issues. (maybe only slightly better). I purchased a RME audio HDSP card with an external multiface sound interface which functions electronically identical to the 002 rack in terms of digital & analog I/O. Its an expensive solution... but at least it is a solution. When things stay broke, its even more expensive when you consider the fact that you bought ProTools and can't use it.

Hello, I'd like to chime in on this one as I have been watching it for awhile for some change in status but none has come.

I am having the same problem as described at the beginning, I have checked all my settings, pc optimizations, pro tools 9 install, pluggins etc. The best I can figure there is a process running in the background that needs to be removed or turned off.

Hi I used to get a load of crunchy digi noise when I had SPDIF as an input on any track with the SPDIF source, a Focusrite pre, powered off. When I changed the input to anything else, or powered the SPDIF source, the crackling noise stopped.
