Default No hope for AU or VST support?

Maybe someone has an insight on this. Will digi ever support AU or VST? I own a few TDMs but would be nice to have access to some AUs and VSTs that I already own.... And others that I would love to buy and use within Pro Tools environment. Also, I wouldn't have to use DP or Logic for more intense midi sequencing, amongst other things.

Learn something new everyday! Thanks for the info. I was hoping fxpansion also had AU to RTAS. I just bought Vienna Instruments and since DP is not compatible with PT 7's DAE, I am left with this expensive product (that I would love to use) with no platform to play them on. Frustrating.....

Now if we could get a AU to RTAS Adapter, life would be grand.

There's pretty much no need -- all the AUs worth their salt are also available as VSTs. VST is, technologically, a better format in any case -- the Model T Ford or DC-3 of plugin architectures, if ever there was.

Ok, I bought the Vienna Instruments that require AU or VST. Problem is, when I installed the DVDs, I could only see the AU component but NOT the VST. Anyone know how to access the VST format so that I can justify buying fxpansion's utility? Thanks.

ok......
The VST plugins can be in 2 places:
Boot Drive>Library>audio>plugins>VST
or
Users>The little house (your user login name)>Library>audio>plugins>VST

If Vienna installed the VST version, it has to be there, if not, try installing it again, make sure to look for a specific VST installation.
Don't even doubt about buying or not VST2RTAS v2.0, it's worth every penny and more... much more...
Hope it helps

I asked one of the FXpansion guys that very question at NAMM this year.
He said there was no technical reason they couldn't,
but that he was pretty sure Digi wouldn't allow them to do it.

I checked both Library paths for the VI's VST version but they're nowhere to be found. Reinstalled and still no VST version, just the AU component, so I bet the VST version is only installed on the PC, not Mac. Big fat bummer. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if DP 5 will be compatible with PT 7's DAE when it's released...

Contact the Vienna guys........ if VST is not ported to Mac yet, they might have a beta version.....

don't give up.... I love Vienna, I have a PC just to run Giga Studio/Vienna.
