PT creating random "gutter" playlists but only on my M1 Pro MacBook
Just got a M1 Pro MacBook Pro. It flies -- great performance.
However, have caught some funny Pro Tools things with it, the most annoying of which is the random creation of playlists named "gutter" when working on sessions for seemingly no reason at all. Running the same version of PT (2023.6) on a 2021~ Windows 10 machine with an Intel i9-9900K, a Mac Pro 5,1 from 2010~2012, and previously to this an Intel i5 MBP. My workflow and style of session organization / editing is no different on any of those machines and I've never seen these random "gutter" playlists show up. It only happens on my M1 Pro machine. Machine is on Ventura 13.4, per Avid's compatibility specs, but was on Monterey up until a week ago and was still doing it there too. Thought I was going crazy when I saw all these "gutter" playlists showing up. There are some other forum posts about this happening and Avid put it in the release notes way back on PT 12.7 as a fixed issue.

Just a thought, but make sure neither of these is checked in Preferences -> Editing:
Send Fully Overlapped Clips to Playlist while Editing Send Fully Overlapped Clips to Playlist while Recording

Re: PT creating random "gutter" playlists but only on my M1 Pro MacBook
I've been seeing this behaviour across many versions of pro tools, intel and M1. I intermittently see this whenever I make large session-wide edits with playlist view open.
I know that's not a solution, but just reporting my experience here. |

I think it creates these “gutter” playlists to even off the amount of playlists when making edits across all tracks when in playlist view.
I had it done to me today when doing this across many tracks with all playlists expanded while “cutting time”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
