Default 8-channel analog to TDIF converter

Quite a specific question perhaps and not sure such a unit is out there.

Does anyone know of a 24-bit, 8-channel, analog to TDIF converter? Phono to TDIF would be most preferable. I got an old Soundscape SS8IO-3 of eBay but it is 20-bit instead.

by phono you mean -10dBV unbalanced and nor phonograph correct?

most are going to be 25 pin D-subs

the Soundscape is the only one I know of with RCAs other than using an old DA-88
don't let the 20 bit bother you, most analog sections barely make the 120 dB dynamic range of 20 bit (especially -10 dBV systems)
but if your hung up on it you could get an old AD-8000 with the correct cards and adapt for the buffered outputs or get a new ADI-8 PRO and adapt to best fit your setup

Cheers for the Craig.

Yup, -10dBV unbalanced is the connector of choice in this case.

I hear you about the 20 bit rate being enough. And most probably is in this case: I just want to connect the pre outs of a fairly good Yamaha prosumer surround amp to my digital surround monitor controller to start listening to commercial surround mixes to my studio speaker set up. I just thought since I am trying to create a reference set up, to be as uncompromised as financially poss. I checked the AD8000 and I've been thinking about it but did not think about the RME.

An original MOTU 2408 unit has 8 channels of RCA analog to TDIF conversion, both connected to a computer and standalone. The original passes 20 bits at 44.1K or 48K. Mark II and up units IIRC are 24-bit but use 1/4" connectors.

2408 MkII it is then! Definitely not as audiophile as the ADI-8 Pro (and for the time-being I cannot seem to find one around) and I can find at least 2-3 different uses for it.
