Greyed Out Instrument Tracks PTHD12.5

Hi There,
Sometimes when reopening sessions I find that an instrument track is grey and no longer plays. When I open the instrument plugin on the track and enable recording, I'm able to make a sound through the instrument but PT won't play back the MIDI information contained in the regions on the track.

Making a new instrument track and dragging the regions from the old track works, but is a slow and time consuming workaround to have to do every time I reopen a session.

Welcome to the community.

Sounds like the track is not assigned to the instrument. Try showing Instrument in the Edit or Mix window to make sure that the MIDI output (second pop-up) is set to your VI.

Also look under i/o settings that the overwrite session i/o is not checked or if you have it checked uncheck that box and see if that helps.

Hey, I'm having that problem now with 12.8.3 Never noticed it happening this consistently upon every re-open of a session, but it does now. I have to have each session have its Instruments assignments viewable, so I can re-point it to its track's instrument every time I re-open.
Mainly noticing this on Kontakt instruments in the session.

Kontakt (and most of my plugs) are newest versions.
Mac 5,1 running 10.12
PT HD I/O 16 channel

i get this error all the time. only fix i've found is to duplicate the INST track and delete the orig and all is well. wish avid would fix this bug
