Playlist # and track # reset request missing feature
Aloha everyone
Still sort of new to Pro Tool 7 My issue is pretty minor, so I'm hoping there is a easy fix for it or wondering if this is a known issue? Example (rough session) Many times I will do sessions with a vocalist that might do 20 vocal takes, then decides to redo them all. We end up with a bunch of takes!!!! After going through all of the takes we found about 8 scattered takes that we want to work with for comping. So I erase all the other unwanted takes to try to clean things up. Now heres the issue on the playlist I see number 38 or so next to the take, when it really should say something like take 1, since I got rid of all of the earlier takes. This is little confusing for the client and sort of confusing for me too. I am able to work around this by looking and knowing what # the take really is, even if the playlist doesn't say so. Misunderstandings can happen with the client due to this issue. I know how to rename the actual take by clicking on the waveform and pressing enter and renaming to take 1 but I can't rename the playlist to take 1 to correspond? Is there a way to fix this? I have a couple of ways that I can think of fixing this issue but they are time consuming and I'm hoping someone has a quick fix! This was kinda hard to explain! Was I clear or should I try to explain more? |

Re: Playlist # and track # reset request missing feature
Hello there,
I use the "New,duplicate" play list arrow next to the track name in the edit window to create a new take. You can set a new name or the system will create a new name for each take. You still have to keep good notes. I'm doing this in the Comments section. When it comes time to comp, create a few new tracks under the original vocal and and load the keepers in the new tracks. Name one of these empty tracks VOC COMP and edit the good parts into this track. When done, hide the originals to keep it tidy. One of my problems: I never erase anything. Hope this helps. Roger |
