SX 3 to PT M
The studio I work at uses the HD 3 and right now at home I use SX 3.1. I'd like to know if there are others here who have made the switch and what do I gain or lose by the switch?
I use roughly 7 virtual injstruments and maybe 8 to 10 audio tracks for most of my projects. I havenmt really done alot of surround sound but if I go that route, could I just take my home m-powered project and do the surround mix in the studio wich has HD 3 system? Thast really about it, just looking or simple yay's or nay's about the switch. Thanks all, Michael |

Re: SX 3 to PT M
i've found bouncing back and forth between HD and M-powered to be pretty
painless (except when you have TDM only plug-ins like Reverb-one etc.). you'll probably want to the get Fxpansion's VstToRtas adapter so you can use all your steinberg toys ;-) jeff |

Do I get mulitple outs with something like BFD? stereo is fine..forces you to think |

Re: SX 3 to PT M
just curious.. why switch at all? Do you have to work on HD projects at home? If not I would stay with cubase. Then you staying up to par on both platforms. The cool thing is of course: if you are using M-Powered hardware.. then you can run both programs from the same interface. That's what I did until I lost interest in PT. Cubase is where I live most of the time.
oops: forgot to mention..if you are planning on sequencing in PT. Your going to be depressed in comparison to what you can now do in cubase.

Re: SX 3 to PT M
I use SX 3 and Mpowered. With PT you may miss the MIDI editing features that SX 3 has. If you don't do much MIDI editing then you probably won't notice that. Workflow is quite different. Doing simple tasks will seem cumbersome as you switch - I assume that this would be the case switching either way. It would be best to get some practice in at home before jumping in at work if you're not up to speed on PT yet. There's quite a bit to learn.
