Default PT standard is PT Studio, even for old versions?

Another post shows the same thing I am seeing. I have a "Pro Tools Studio Perpetual" license. So it seems that old Standard licenses have been retroactively changed to the naming of "Studio" even though you can't actually activate studio without upgrading.

I am not sure why the screenshot didn't post.

I will try again

Perhaps the language change will help avoid confusion for those who wish to update or upgrade. Not that confusion has ever been a problem for Avid customers. ::cough::

Well, I really got my hopes up when I saw that. I downloaded Studio and tried it but of course it didn't work. Then I noticed it still gives me the expiration date back in 2018

Right. Perpetual just means you can keep using your last version for as long as you can find hardware/OS combos that will run it. No updates without $$

Correct. BUt I had bought an older perpetual, which ended up being 2018.7 but the seller wasn't sure of the version expiration. I guessed what it was from the description but when I got it and saw "studio" I got excided but then when I checked it in ilok manager, I saw that updates expired in 2018.
