MIDI makes PT6.4 quit unexpectedly + cs9 question

Hello all,
I have been having trouble with PT6.4LE quitting unexpectedly whenever I open a session witha midi track or try to set up a midi track on a new session.
Upon researching I found that cs9 can stop PT crashing when midi is assigned, I have run the cs9 installer and the problem persists. However I am unsure as to whether cs9 is actually installed and if so correctly. When I look at the "about pro tools" it just says Pro tools version 6.4. Should it say Pro tools version 6.4cs9 in this "about pro tools" window (or anywhere else for that matter)?
Please help, I am going nuts here. I have spent about a week trying to resolve this.
Also I have tried writing a midnam file for my QS300 and haven't been able to it to work yet. I will address this on another post once I sort out this problem, but if anyone is an expert on this or has a midnam for the QS300.......?

I discovered that (apple + I) tells you if it is the cs upgrade but that this info does not seem to appear anywhere else.
I have the cs9 version but PT keeps quitting whenever I try to do anything midi. Help please!

I run PTLE 4.6cs9 on 10.3.5 and yesterday I did some editing in MIDI.

Then I inserted a SENT on an AUDIO to an AUX where I inserted the Degrader and Piler Pluggos to see if the FX work with the original track when PT "unexpecetly quits" nearly for the first Time since any 6.4 version (I only experienced SYSTEM shutdowns on Jaguar after long sessions three or four times since I went 6.01, when it came out.)

the only way to get it running again was get a step back in may extensive Backup folder and use a backup version from 20 mins or so ago (a backup which doesn´t include the changes I recently made)

and then everything works just as fine as before.

I really loved to learn to use extensive backup features.
