Default melodyne or autotune

Hi, Im wondering whether I should purchase melodyne or auto tune. I can't decide between the two. What do people out there on the forums prefer? Which is easier, more intuitive to use? Which works better with pro tools?
I have been using an antares avp1 outboard unit for quite a few years before I changed over to pro tools for recording but I presume the software version would be different. I just want to subtly tweak some vocals, none of this over the top cher effect which is so prolific these days - i really hate that sound its like nails on a black board. Any advise appreciated.

Me too. For subtle pitch correction, it's hard to beat.

Externally, via ReWire.

I also vote melodyne, been using it since its inception and I love it. You can use it as a standalone app, via rewire, or as a plugin - just be sure to look at the different versions you can buy so you get what you want

I've used both, and I really like the ease of Melodyne. Unless you're wanting to have that over auto-tuned vocal effect, Melodyne is how I'd go.

What version of Melodyne are you using?

Runs natively as RTAS for me, or just standalone.

I also give my +1 for it. It's easily the most powerful sound editor you can use, and not just for tuning. I find myself doing almost all of my vocal edits inside Melodyne and then printing it to a new track before mixing.

I was using Melodyne Essential back in PT8 and had to use it with ReWire - haven't gotten around to installing it on 10 yet because I hardly use pitch correction anymore! Though I'm tempted to buy it now, if it runs as an RTAS plugin in PT.. makes things a lot easier.

doesnt appear to be supported for mac osx 10.7.4 and protools 10.2

says this on their website -
Mac OS X 10.5.8, 10.6.8 on Intel Macs, 4 GB RAM or more

SO they have pretty much missed out on supporting for lion at all cause mountain lion is about to be released. Im thinking I may not bother with a company that cannot bother about me
