Solo'ing and bouncing in passes is silly when you can easily do it all at once. It just takes planning, and then you can work on a template. For the template you can create one or two tracks of each type you need, drum, lead, bvox, etc... Bus them appropriately and assign VCA's. Then when you use the template you can duplicate the tracks to end up with what you actually need in that particular session. Assignments and colors and what not will already be done.

Your posts make too much sense, that's why they are not commented

I'm just eager to see if anybody had a look at my session example that I posted. Shows a good solution to the multi-bounce-print, I think. Also, a good band.

I was replying to someone else
I'm in agreement with your point but also giving a tip on templates.

Ben in particular, I have tried your solution today and it seems to work great. I have to duplicate the mix buss processing for all the 3 versions, and I have to use the bounce dialog rather than the PRINT tracks, since I record at 48 but client needs 44.1. Otherwise, it seems to be working...unless I am hearing things! This will save me a ton of time over the months, so again thank you, and thanks for taking the time to make a demo session! Tom |

Re: Can Any Real Experts in Routing Solve This?
I'd keep it simple & print 3 off-line bounces (mutes for bounce 2 &3). Done.

Re: Can Any Real Experts in Routing Solve This?
OK the plot thickens....can anyone advise?
Here is a shot of the output section of my mix. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxlqoh46cy...%20PM.png?dl=0 The setup will allow me to bounce a full mix, a mix with only background vocals and music, and finally, a music only mix, in one go. But what is happening is the two alternate mixes (back Vox mix and inst mix) are noticeably louder than the main mix. I've made sure all inserts are matched in levels and EQ (they are just copied over from the main mix). SUBMST: That's where everything goes before it hits the MIX fader, for level control. MIX: The main mix out ALL BVOX: That's one of the alternate versions with only music and back Vox, assigned to "nowhere" as instructed previously in the thread. ALL MUS: Same, only just music. MASTER2: This acts in the same way as the SUBMST does with the main outs, it's a master for the "NOWHERE BUSS" and is matched to the same level as the SUBMST. Main mix is not as loud as the alternates. What on earth am I missing here? Thanks much Tom |
